The 3-day Hayton Flower Festival, presented by the Pocklington Flower Club, took place over the first week-end of June, from the preview on Friday evening (2nd June) through to the final conclusion at 4pm on Monday (5th June). The theme was "... And the Romans Came...", with the COMITATUS Roman Re-enactment Group in attendance at their campsite on Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday - Pentecost/Whit-Sunday (4th June) - the Venerable Richard Seed, Archdeacon of York, visited Hayton for an evening service of dedication and celebration, following completion of the refurbishment of St Martin's Church. The service was led by the Curate of the Londesborough Group of Parishes, Revd Shelagh Jones, and the Archdeacon preached on the theme of community and firm foundations, to a large invited congregation.
